Why does USPS say we have a mailbox when we don’t?
USPS only marks an address as “Vacant” when a mailbox is assigned to that address. Even if you are not aware of it, a mailbox has likely been assigned to your location.
How do I fix this?
Contact your local post office. They can tell you which mailbox is assigned to your address and provide a replacement key for a small fee if needed.
